Notes

Lead vocals - Pigpen.

Authorship uncertain. Europe 72 like many other recordings credits Elmore James. The NMPA registration for the song for Elmore James lists Elmore James and James Marshall Sehorn as writers. Other performances of the song are registered with NMPA and BMI with other writers credited, including; Mel London, Hudson Whittaker (aka Tampa Red), Champion Jack Dupree and Barry Goldberg. ASCAP has only one entry for the song with Hudson Whittaker (Tampa Red) as writer.

The earliest recording seems to be by Tampa Red (10th May 1940 w/ Blind John Davis) which doesn't rule out Elmore James as writer but gives more credence to Tampa Red being the writer rather than James.

Although Tampa Red's name is given as Hudson Whittaker on song writing credits, some other sources refer to him as Hudson Woodbridge.

The song is sometimes referred to as "When Things Go Wrong With You (It Hurts Me Too)" or simple as "When Things Go Wrong With You" or "When Things Go Wrong"
