Legion Of Mary: A Catalog of Gigs, Setlists & Tapes and Repertoire of Songs & Jams "Legion of Mary" is the name tape collectors use for a version of the Jerry Garcia Band that played more than 100 dates between January '74 and July '75, though it is uncertain for how many of these performances the band was actually billed as "The Legion of Mary.". Besides Garcia on lead guitar and vocals and his steady bass player John Kahn, LM featured Merl Saunders on keyboards and vocals and Martin Fierro on tenor sax and flute. Four different drummers played with LM; Ryan Shriver's JerrySite (JS = www.thejerrysite.com) gives these dates for their tenures: Bill Vitt (11/03/73 - 01/12/74), Bill Kreutzmann (01/17/74- 08/11/74), Paul Humphrey (8/24/74 - 11/29/74), Ron Tutt (12/12/74 - 7/04/75). The Legion played almost exclusively in small clubs, mostly around the San Francisco Bay area but also during three brief visits to Southern California and on two East Coast tours (November '74, April '75). Keystone Berkeley 11/3/73 looks like the band's first gig and Great American Music Hall, SF 7/6/75 its last. This document consists of two parts. The first is a catalog of LM gigs, setlists and tapes. This lists all the gigs LM is known to have played. There are tapes in circulation of more than half these shows. For about a quarter we have only the dates and venues as given without setlists in DB of JS, and for the remaining shows JS and/or DB give setlists as well. The best tapes circulating often correct DB; DB's Legion lists should be regarded with due caution; wherever they are given here (only when no tape circulates) they are enclosed in < triangular brackets >. JS's lists are more likely to be accurate. Where tape does circulate the approximate length in minutes (usually rounded up to the next 45-minute cassette side) and the tape's source (soundboard or audience, SBD or AUD) are given immediately following the venue and date. The setlists that follow such entries (90 SBD, 180 AUD, etc) are based on close examination of the tapes (often, examination of several copies) and give the correct sequence of songs for the complete set or show (or as much of it as the evidence permits). Where they conflict with DB's setlists in my judgment the evidence shows that the lists given here are correct and DB's mistaken. After this there appears a repertoire of LM songs and instrumental jams. It contains two sections, the first a catalog listing the 41 songs included in LM's repertoire, each followed by a listing of the date of every known performance, the second section catalogues 22 instrumental jams in the same fashion. Both sections are based on the Catalog of Gigs, Setlists & Tapes. Only performances for which tape circulates are listed. Catalog of Gigs, Setlists & Tapes "Pirate's Party, SS Bay Belle, NYC Harbor, 9/5/73": 90 SBD. It's No Use, Favela, Leave Your Hat On, Mystery Train, The Harder They Come, Think, Finders Keepers. DB notes this date as a Saunders & Garcia gig but does not give a setlist. The date on this tape is certainly bogus. The presence of Favela means it's probably no earlier than 8/74. Keystone Berkeley 11/3/73: per JS: I. After Midnight, Expressway > jam > instrumental, Someday Baby, I Second That Emotion. II (partial): That's All Right, Mama, My Funny Valentine. No proof in the absence of circulating tape that this is LM and not Garcia & Saunders. Keystone Berkeley 11/5/73: per JS: It's No Use, Finders Keepers, It's Too Late, Money Honey, I Second That Emotion. II: The Harder They Come, Instrumental > Sweet Little Angel (with Roger Troy), Mystery Train, My Funny Valentine. No proof in the absence of circulating tape that this is LM and not Garcia & Saunders. Keystone Berkeley 1/17/74: 60 SBD. Finders Keepers, Think, Are You Lonely For Me Baby, The Harder They Come. This tape is in fairly wide circulation mis-labeled "Keystone Berkeley 1/17/73" but the dating to 1/17/74 seems clear. This is probably a complete set. Keystone Berkeley 1/18/74: 240 AUD: I: Someday Baby, La-la, I Second That Emotion, My Funny Valentine, Who's Lovin' You Tonight; II: Finders Keepers, Think, Are You Lonely For Me Baby, It's No Use, Expressway, Roadrunner, Like A Road, Mystery Train, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down; II: The Harder They Come, Wonderin Why, C.C. Rider (w/ female vocalist). Third set list is almost certainly incomplete. Pauley Ballroom, UC Berkeley, 1/19/74: 70 SBD. Think, Finders Keepers, The Harder They Come, La-la, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, How Sweet It Is. This seems to be the complete set. DB lists date as JGB with Fierro as special guest. Uncertain Bay Area Venue, 2/74: 72 AUD: He Ain't Give You None, Expressway, Money Honey, Like A Road. This list comes from a tape mastered by Bob Menke, probably at Keystone Berkeley but possibly at the Great American Music Hall or another Bay Area venue. Great American Music Hall, SF 2/5/74: 180 SBD. I: Someday Baby, La-la, Roadrunner, It's Too Late, My Problems Got Problems, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down; II: The Harder They Come, Think, Wonderin Why, Mystery Train, My Funny Valentine, Are You Lonely For Me, How Sweet It Is. [Keystone Berkeley 2/7/74: DB lists date as JGB, not LM. JS lists Wonderin' Why, That's All Right, Mama.] Rheem Theater, Orinda 2/9/74: 110 SBD. I: Think, Finders Keepers, Are You Lonely For Me, Second That Emotion, Wonderin Why, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down; II: from 2nd set: The Harder They Come, Mystery Train (fragment); La-la (fragment). The circulating tape is fragmentary. JS list Harder They Come, Roadrunner, La-la, Mystery Train . DB lists the same songs but puts La-La before Roadrunner >. DB incorrectly lists date as JGB, not LM, a useful indication of how much we should trust DB's account. [Keystone Berkeley 2/10/74 is not LM (no Martin).] Great American Music Hall, SF 2/12/74: per DB, which lists: < Hi-Heel Sneakers, He Ain't Give You None, Second That Emotion, It's No Use, Roadrunner, That's Alright Mama, It's Too Late, The Harder They Come >. For the 2nd set JS lists: Think, La-La, Road Runner, Wonderin' Why, I Second That Emotion, Instrumental, Harder They Come. DB lists date as JGB, not LM, but of course if they played La-La it was LM. Keystone Berkeley 2/16/74: 125 AUD: I: Soul Roach, La-la, Think, Second That Emotion, Are You Lonely For Me, The Harder They Come; II: Money Honey, Wonderin Why, Roadrunner. JS adds How Sweet It Is after Roadrunner. Keystone Berkeley 2/17/74: DB lists date as JGB, not LM; no list. Great American Music Hall , SF 3/1/74: DB lists date as JGB, not LM; no list. Keystone Berkeley 3/9/74: DB lists date as JGB, not LM; no list. Great American Music Hall, SF 3/2/74: per JS, no list. not necessarily LM. Keystone Berkeley 3/14/74: DB lists date as JGB, not LM; no list. JS lists I: Ain't No Woman, He Ain't Give You None, Someday Baby, Instrumental > Jam; II: After Midnight Rike A Road, Roadrunner, It's A Sin, Harder They Come. JS notes that Bay Area jazz drummer EW Wainwright played drums on this date. No telling from the set-list whether this is LM. Chateau Liberte, Santa Cruz Mts 3/22/74: DB lists date as JGB, not LM; no list. Great American Music Hall 5/2/74: 90 SBD & 90 AUD. I: It's Too Late, My Problems Got Problems, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Think, Someday Baby, La-la, Roadrunner; II: The Harder They Come, Wonderin Why, Mystery Train, My Funny Valentine, Are You Lonely For Me, How Sweet It Is. DB lists date as JGB, not LM. Great American Music Hall, SF 5/30/74. DB lists as JGB. JS gives this list: I: It's No Use, Finders Keepers, Tear Down The Walls, Jam, Roadrunner, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. II: Harder They Come, Instrumental > Space > Ain't No Woman, Mytery Train, He Ain't Give You None, That's What Love Will Make You Do, How Sweet It Is. [Inn Of The Beginning, Cotati 5/31/74. DB lists date as JGB, no setlist.] [Inn Of The Beginning, Cotati 6/1/74. DB lists date as JGB, no setlist.] Lion's Share, San Anselmo 6/4/74: 135 SBD. I: Jam #1, Expressway, Second That Emotion, Wonderin Why, Finders Keepers; II: Jam (All Blue), R&B Medley w/ female vocalist, The Harder They Come, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. DB gives date & list but not as LM. JS lists Soul Roach for Finders Keepers. Lion's Share, San Anselmo 6/5/74: 45 SBD. La-la, Finders Keepers, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Kansas City w/ Alice Stuart, vocalist. DB notes date but not as LM, no list. JS lists a first set: That's What Love Will Make You Do, Instrumental > Space > Instrumental, Second That Emotion; it lists our circulating tape as the beginning of the 2nd set, which concludes with: Harder They Come, That's Alright Mama, both with Alice Stuart on vocals. Keystone Berkeley 6/6/74: 150 AUD: I: Someday Baby, Expressway, He Ain't Give You None, My Funny Valentine; II: My Problems Got Problems, Jam #11, How Sweet It Is. [Bottom Line, NYC 7/1/74, 7/2/74 & 7/3/74 and Keystone Berkeley 7/12/74 are not LM (no Martin).] Keystone Berkeley 7/13/74: 90 SBD. I: Think, Finders Keepers, How Sweet It Is, Someday Baby, Second That Emotion, Wonderin Why, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down; II: The Harder They Come. Obviously the 2nd set is incomplete. DB has date but no list. Great American Music Hall 7/14/74: per DB, no list. Keystone Berkeley 7/21/74: per DB. The circulating tape with this date is mislabled; see "Keystone Berkeley Spring '75." DB's list is based on the mislabeled tape. The Dead played the Hollywood Bowl on this date, making a gig in Berkeley extremely unlikely. Keystone Berkeley 7/22/74: 145 SBD: Jam #12, Reggae Woman, Wonderin Why, How Sweet It Is, Leave Your Hat On, That's What Love Will Make You Do, Jam #7; the second tape continues with The Harder They Come, What's Goin On (instrumental jam). Only the last 90 seconds of Jam #12 appear on the circulating tape. How Sweet It Is cuts before its conclusion and the beginning of Leave Your Hat On is missing. The best circulating copies of this tape have the complete What's Goin On jam, which times 26:06. Clearly this is not the complete show. Probably at least two tunes are missing before Reggae Woman and probably at least one tune after What's Goin On. Also, it isn't clear whether this represents one set or two, and, if two, where the set break falls. Great American Music Hall 7/23/74: per DB, no list. Great American Music Hall 8/7/74: per DB, no list. Keystone Berkeley 8/9/74: 145 AUD: I: Expressway, Think, Are You Lonely For Me Baby?, Soul Roach, Second That Emotion; II: Mystery Train, Lonely Avenue > How Sweet It Is. Keystone Berkeley 8/10/74: 120 AUD: I: That's What Love Will Make You Do, La-la, It's No Use, Mystery Train, II: The Harder They Come, Jam #10, It's Too Late. According to DB the 2nd set concludes with Roadrunner, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. This list comes from Lou Tamboukas' master reels. JS's list is probably mistaken. Note the close similarity between this list and the next night's -- however, these are different performances, as the tapes show. Keystone Berkeley 8/11/74: I: That's What Love Will Make You Do, La-la, It's No Use, Mystery Train; II: The Harder They Come, Jam #10, It's Too Late, Roadrunner, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. [Great American Music Hall 8/14/74: DB gives the list for 8/15/74 for this date; it is not clear whether there was also a show on this date.] Great Amrican Music Hall 8/15/74: 130 AUD: I: Someday Baby, Expressway (To Your Heart), Wonderin' Why > Just Kissed My Baby, Roadrunner; II: Neighbor Neighbor, He Ain't Give You None, Favela, Mystery Train, Sittin' In Limbo, How Sweet It Is. Berkeley Community Theater 8/23/74: per DB, no list. JS says this was a one set show and lists: It's No Use, Wonderin' Why, Mystery Train, Roadrunner, Sittin In Limbo, Favela > People Make The World Go Round. Great American Music Hall 8/24/74: 135 SBD: I: Neighbor Neighbor, Favela, I Second That Emotion, My Problems Got Problems, He Ain't Give You None, Money Honey; II: The Harder They Come, La-la > Just Kissed My Baby, Roadrunner, Sitting In Limbo. Great American Music Hall 8/28/74: per DB, no list. Freeborn Hall, UC Davis 8/30/74: 100 SBD. Harder They Come, Favela, Neighbor, Neighbor, He Ain't Give You None, Think, La-la, Mystery Train. This is probably a complete set or show. Keystone Berkeley 8/31/74: 145 AUD: I: That's What Love Will Make You Do, My Funny Valentine, Roadrunner, Wonderin Why, Tough Mama; II: Second That Emotion, Favela > Just Kissed My Baby > Mystery Train, Going Going Gone, How Sweet It Is. For the 90 SBD cassette circulating mislabeled with this date see Keystone Berkeley Spring 75. Keystone Berkeley 9/1/74: 90 SBD. La-la, He Ain't Give You None, Think, The Harder They Come, Neighbor Neighbor. This list is obviously partial and probably out of sequence. DB gives date but no list. Marx Meadow, Golden Gate Park, SF 9/2/74: 90 SBD. Second That Emotion, Expressway, Sittin In Limbo, Neighbor Neighbor, La-la, Mystery Train, How Sweet It Is. This is probably the complete show. Keystone Berkeley 10/3/74: per DB, no list. Keystone Berkeley 10/4/74: 115 AUD: I: That's What Love Will Make You Do, Bossa Martin > Just Kissed My Baby, Roadrunner, It's No Use; II: Tough Mama, Freedom Jazz Dance, Sittin In Limbo, Ain't No Mountain High Enough, How Sweet It Is. Great American Music Hall 10/6/74: 40 SBD. Think, Bossa Martin > space jam (A Love Supreme) (28:45). DB gives date but no list. JS lists I: Think, Bossa Martin > Freedom Jazz Dance, Roadrunner, Mystery Train, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down; II: Harder They Come, My Funny Valentine. Chateau Liberte, Santa Cruz Mts 10/11/74: per DB, no list. JS lists: I: You Can Leave Your Hat On, Mystery Train; II: Roadrunner, Favela, Wonderin Why > People Make The World Go Round, Tough Mama, How Sweet It Is. County Fairgrounds, Santa Barbara: 10/13/74: per DB, no list. Golden Bear, Huntington Beach 10/23/74: per JS, no list. Golden Bear, Huntington Beach 10/24/74: per JS, no list. Golden Bear, Huntington Beach 10/25/74: per DB, no list. Golden Bear, Huntington Beach 10/26/74: per DB, no list. Golden Bear, Huntington Beach 10/27/74: Late Show 90 AUD: That's The Touch I Like, Favela, Expressway, It's Too Late, Mystery Train, Ain't I Good, Roadrunner. Great American Music Hall 10/30/74: per DB, no list. Memorial Gym, USF, SF 10/31/74: 90 SBD. I: The Harder They Come, Expressway, Leave Your Hat On, He Ain't Give You None, Freedom Jazz Dance, Neighbor Neighbor, Mystery Train, Roadrunner, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, How Sweet It Is. This is probably the complete show. Keystone Berkeley 11/1/74: per DB, no list. Keystone Berkeley 11/2/74: per DB, no list. Bottom Line, NYC 11/5/74: 90 AUD. That's The Touch I Like, Favela, He Ain't Give You None, Leave Your Hat On, Second That Emotion, La-la. The conclusion of this set is missing. DB's < Jam > before La-la is probably erroneous. After La-la, DB concludes with < How Sweet It Is, Mystery Train >. According to JS after La-La they concluded the set with Mystery Train. Bottom Line, NYC 11/6/74: 90 AUD: Early Show: Think, Bossa Martin, Second That Emotion, Leave Your Hat On, Someday Baby, Mystery Train, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. DB lists for the Late Show: < Second That Emotion, Limbo, Roadrunner >. Bottom Line, NYC 11/7/74: Early Show: It's No Use, Favela, The Harder They Come, Leave Your Hat On, Takes Alot To Laugh, Mystery Train. Greenvale, NY 11/8/74: 180 AUD: I: How Sweet It Is, Finders Keepters, It's Too Late, Leave Your Hat On, Going Going Gone, Favela, Second That Emotion; II: Neighbor Neighbor, La-la > Just Kissed My Baby, It's No Use, Sittin In Limbo, Mystery Train. There is also a 20-minute SBD excerpt in circulation labeled with this date: 20 SBD. It's No Use, Think. It isn't clear where or if Think fits in to this list. Copies of this AUD are in circulation mislabeled "11/18/74." Capitol Theater, Passaic 11/9/74: Early Show per DB, which lists: < Early Show: Mystery Train, The Weight, That's Alright Mama.> Late Show: The Harder They Come, Favela, Let It Rock, My Problems Got Problems, He Ain't Give You None, La-la > Just Kissed My Baby, How Sweet It Is. According to JS there is 90 AUD of the Late Show. Palace Theater, Albany 11/10/74: 160 SBD. I: Let It Rock, Expressway, Leave Your Hat On, Neighbor Neighbor, Going Going Gone, Mystery Train; II: Roadrunner, Favela, Wonderin Why > Just Kissed My Baby, The Harder They Come, Jam #6, Tough Mama, How Sweet It Is. Paul's Mall, Boston 11/12/74: per DB, which lists: < Suspicious Minds, Wonderin Why, La-la, Neighbor Neighbor >. As JS notes, "Suspicious Minds" is probably You Can Leave Your Hat On. According to JS this list is from the Late Show. Paul's Mall, Boston 11/13/74: 90 AUD. The Harder They Come, Favela, Jam #6, Someday Baby, Wonderin Why, Neighbor Neighbor, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. This could be the complete set or show but seems likelier to have continued for another song. Paul's Mall, Boston 11/14/74: 200 AUD. Think, Expressway, Going Going Gone, Soul Roach, Leave Your Hat On, That's Alright Mama, The Touch I Like, Tough Mama, The Harder They Come, Bossa Martin, Favela, Let It Rock, My Problems Got Problems, Mystery Train, My Funny Valentine > Just Kissed My Baby, Jam #6. This may be incomplete and the sequence may not be correct in every detail; Favela's placement in particular is questionable. The likeliest spots for the set break are either before or after The Harder They Come. Worcester Polytech, Worcester 11/15/74: Late Show 110 SBD. Second That Emotion, Finders Keepers, That's What Love Will Make You Do, Wonderin Why > Just Kissed My Baby, Let It Rock, Mystery Train, Sittin In Limbo, How Sweet It Is. Tower Theater, Upper Darby 11/16/74: 25 AUD: from Early Show: That's The Touch I Like, Expressway, He Ain't Give You None. Late Show 110 AUD: Takes Alot To Laugh, Favela, My Problems Got Problems, Mystery Train, La-la > Just Kissed My Baby, The Harder They Come, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. DB lists for the Early Show: < Early Show: That's The Touch I Like, Expressway, He Ain't Give You None, Leave Your Hat On, Favela, Going Going Gone, Second That Emotion>. Rochester 11/17/74: JS lists I: Think, Finders Keepers, Second That Emotion, You Can Leave Your Hat On, It's Too Late, Let It Rock, Going Going Gone; II: Tough Mama, Wonderin' Why > People Make Th World Go Round, Neighbor Neighbor, Sitting In Limbo, Mystery Train. JS lists 145 AUD for this show. [Greenville 11/18/74: see 11/8/74.] Keystone Berkeley 11/27/74: 90 SBD. I: Bossa Martin, Leave Your Hat On, Going Going Gone, Mystery Train; II: He Ain't Give You None, Freedom Jazz Dance. DB's list matches this and concludes with < Someday Baby, Second That Emotion >. Great American Music Hall 11/28/74: 180 SBD. I: It's No Use, Favela, Leave Your Hat On, Mystery Train, Harder They Come; II: Freedom Jazz Dance, Going Going Gone, Jam #6, Neighbor Neighbor, Wonderin Why > Just Kissed My Baby, Second That Emotion. This tape usually circulates labeled "11/29/74." Chateau Liberte, Santa Cruz Mts. 11/30/74: per DB, no list. Keystone Berkeley 12/6/74: per DB, no list. JS lists for 1st set: Money Honey, Neighbor Neighbor, Favela, Mystery Train, Wonderin' Why > People Make The World Go Around, and says that 90 AUD circulates. Keystone Berkeley 12/7/74: 90 AUD. 1st set conclusion: The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down; II: The Harder They Come, Think, Are You Lonely For Me, How Sweet It Is, Second That Emotion, Roadrunner, It's Too Late .... Obviously neither set is complete. DB notes date but no list. Boarding House, SF 12/12/74: per DB, no list. Boarding House, SF 12/13/74: per DB, no list. Paramount Theater, Portland 12/14/74: per JS, no list. Great American Music Hall 12/15/74: JS says that LM played the University of Oregon, Eugene, on this date, and gives the same list as follows. The SBD circulating for this date is labeled GAMH, however: 70 SBD. Leave Your Hat On, Neighbor Neighbor, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, It's No Use, Bossa Martin, Second That Emotion. Possibly a complete set, but probably missing an opening tune. [Ambassador Theater, St. Louis 12/20/74: JS gives date, no list. Not clear whether this is LM.] [Armadillo World Headquarters, Austin 12/21/74: JS gives this date, no list. I: That's The Touch, Favela, Leave Your Hat On, Limbo, Second That Emotion. The complete 1st set. DB's 2nd set runs: < II: Mystery Train, La-la, Roadrunner, Going Going Gone, Expressway >. JS gives DB's 2nd set list as 1st set, adding > People Make The World Go Round after La-La, and gives this 1st set list (That's The Touch etc.) as the 2nd set. According to JS SBD of the last three tunes circulates. Late Show 100 AUD. Let It Rock, Leave Your Hat On, All By Myself, Sittin In Limbo, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Talkin Bout You, Wicked Messenger. After Wicked Messenger DB's Late Show list concludes with < Jam >. Orpheum Theater, Boston 4/6/75: 90 SBD & 90 AUD. Early Show 90 SBD: Tore Up, Feel Like Dynamite, Freedom Jazz Dance, I'll Take A Melody, Mississippi Moon, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Every Word You Say, Roadrunner. Late Show 90 AUD: Neighbor Neighbor, Wonderin Why > Just Kissed My Baby, The Harder They Come, All By Myself, He Ain't Give You None, Mystery Train, How Sweet It Is. Thanks to Ryan Shriver for helping to sort out these tapes. Bottom Line, NYC 4/8/75: Early Show 90 AUD. Let It Rock, Finders Keepers, Last Train From Poor Valley, Feel Like Dynamite, Tore Up, Wicked Messenger, Boogie On Reggae Woman, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Late Show 90 SBD: Tough Mama, Wonderin Why, I'll Take A Melody, Think, Freedom Jazz Dance, Feel Like Dynamite, [at least one more song to conclude set]. Bottom Line, NYC 4/9/75: Early Show 90 SBD; Late Show 160 SBD. Early Show: Think, Feel Like Dynamite, That's What Love Will Make You Do, Mississippi Moon, Leave Your Hat On, The Harder They Come, Second That Emotion. Late Show: Think, Freedom Jazz Dance, Feel Like Dynamite, That's What Love Will Make You Do, Mississippi Moon, The Harder They Come, Second That Emotion, Leave Your Hat On, Last Train From Poor Valley, Talkin Bout You. JS gives a different sequence for these tunes; see their notes. Bottom Line, NYC 4/10/75: Both Shows 180 SBD. Early Show: Think, Finders Keepers, Are You Lonely For Me, Second That Emotion, Wonderin Why, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down; Late Show: The Harder They Come, Last Train From Poor Valley, Talkin Bout You, La-la, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Mississippi Moon, Going Going Gone, Mystery Train. JS lists this differently; see their notes. Tower Theater, Upper Darby 4/11/75: from Early 90 AUD, also 45 SBD; from Late 20 SBD. Early Show: Tore Up, Favela, Feel Like Dynamite, Last Train From Poor Valley, Tough Mama, Mystery Train, Second That Emotion, Expressway. This tape confirms DB's list through Mystery Train; thereafter, DB gives < Expressway, La-la, Second That Emotion, The Night The Drove Old Dixie Down >. This seems too long to be likely but the tape does not rule out the possibility. For the Early Show JS gives my list through Mystery Train and then concludes with Expressway > Just Kissed My Baby, Second That Emotion, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. From the Late Show there circulates tape only of I'll Take A Melody and How Sweet It Is. DB's Late Show list runs: < The Harder They Come, Leave Your Hart On, Philly Rag, Wicked Messenger, Money Honey, Mississippi Moon, Boogie On Reggae Woman, I'll Take A Melody, Sittin In Limbo, Tough Mama, How Sweet It Is >. JS's Late Show list is the same as DB's through Melody (with Soul Roach for "Philly Rag"), and then concludes with How Sweet. Masonic Temple, Scranton 4/12/75: Early Show conclusion 90 SBD; Late Show 90 SBD. Early Show conclusion: Every Word You Say, That's What Love Will Make You Do, Wicked Messenger, Tore Up, Tough Mama, Wonderin Why, I'll Take A Melody, Talkin Bout You.
